If you like climbing up steep fire roads and descending on sweet technical single tracks, this is the loop for you. XEN MTB loves this ride! You pay for the fun first with a 2,500′ climb up a fire road. From there nearly all of the rest of the way down is single track. Don’t let the overall mileage fool you. These trails are steep and technical. The payoff is an exciting experience in full view of Los Angeles. You’ll be tempted to stare off in the distance, but keep your eyes on the trail!
Along the way we’ll see remnants of the Mt Lowe Railway and ruins of buildings that once were a local getaway for LA residents like the Chalet, the Alpine Tavern, and the Casino. Check out https://www.mountlowe.org/ to read about the history of this area.
