Mt Lowe Fire Road via Shuttle

Sometimes you just want to have fun and enjoy the view. This is the easiest and most scenic way to experience the Mt Wilson area where you’ll descend over 4,000′ feet. In fact, it’s so easy, that even a Beginner rider can do it. But more experienced riders looking for a pure adrenaline rush will enjoy this fast downhill route.

The terrain is 100% dirt fire road for the first 6 miles followed by a few miles of steep pavement to the bottom and a few miles of relatively flat streets back to the car. There’s a couple hundred feet of gentle climbing at the beginning of the ride, but that’s about all the effort you’re going to expend other than hanging onto the brakes the whole way down! You’ll have panoramic views of the Pasadena area, and on a clear day you can easily see downtown LA. On super clear days you’ll see Catalina Island – 60 miles away. This ride can be done rain or shine, day or night, 365 days a year. But for safety reasons, we’ll stick with the daylight hours and avoid the rain.

This ride requires a shuttle to the top.  Shuttles are generally available at 6AM, 8AM and 10AM.
